Privacy Policy
Mini Screen Remote (shown as Mini Screen on your device; “the app”) connects to and controls Mac Screen Sharing from iPhone and iPad. Our principle is simple: we don’t collect your personal data. The app has no account system and no server of our own, and contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code.
Data stored on your device
- Connection list: the names, addresses, ports and settings of the Macs you add, kept in the app’s local storage and encrypted by iOS Data Protection.
- Passwords and keys: Mac account passwords, VNC passwords, SSH passwords or private keys, WireGuard configurations and the Tailscale sign-in state are kept only in the device’s Keychain, readable on this device only and never synced to iCloud.
- App settings: preferences such as pointer speed and language, kept locally.
None of this is sent to us. Deleting the app deletes its local storage; Keychain items are managed by iOS.
Remote picture, input and clipboard
While connected, your Mac’s picture and sound and your touch and keyboard input travel directly between your device and the Mac you chose. They never pass through our servers and we can’t see them. With clipboard sync on, text copied on the Mac is written to your device’s clipboard; text on your device’s clipboard is sent to the Mac only when you tap Paste. You can turn this off in Settings.
How the app connects
- System network: connects directly to the address you enter. With VNC password authentication the connection is not encrypted, and the app says so.
- SSH and WireGuard: connect through your own SSH server or WireGuard peer, using the configuration you provide.
- Tailscale: when you choose Tailscale, the app joins your tailnet with your own Tailscale account. You sign in on Tailscale’s web page, and the app talks to Tailscale’s coordination and relay servers to set up the connection; Tailscale handles that data under its privacy policy. The app turns off the Tailscale client’s log upload. We don’t host your Tailscale account and can’t access it.
Permissions
- Local Network: to find and connect to Macs on your network.
- Camera: only when you scan a WireGuard configuration QR code. Images are recognized on the device and never saved or uploaded.
- Photos: to read a QR code from a photo, you pick a single image in the system picker; the app can’t access your photo library.
Purchases
Mini Screen Pro is an Apple In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment; we don’t receive your name, Apple Account or payment details. The app only reads Apple’s signed purchase record on the device to know whether Pro is unlocked.
Website
miniscreen.app is a static website. It uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and doesn’t collect personal data from anyone.
